By now, unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of Twitter, where users can exchange 140-character messages within their network of "followers." Until recently Twitter was viewed as a rather silly application, until it became one of the only news sources out of Iran during the government crackdown. If you've ever been to Twitter.com, you'll have seen a list of popular (or "trending") topics, such as: Wal-Mart, #dirtymoney, AT&T, Drake, and similar cryptic entries. Well, here is WhatTheTrend, a user-edited website, to explain to you why, when we researched this site, a jillion people are tweeting about AT&T (because the FCC is investigating their involvement in a dispute between Google and iTunes). For every Twitter user who cannot rest in the presence of a mystery, this site is for you.
