U.S. Census Bureau’s Dynamic Population Clocks

Every time you go to the Population Clock, you’ll get the latest updates on the U.S. and world populations. When this site was first covered here, we checked it on 1 March 2004 at at 6:30 p.m. Colorado time. The numbers: 292,704,827 population for the U.S., and 6,351,630,428 for the world.

On 30 July 2012 at 6:50 p.m. Colorado time, the numbers were 314,059,296 for the U.S. and 7,029,668,587 for the world — up 21.35 million and 678.04 million!

When you check — and every time you refresh the page — those numbers will be higher. It’s sobering to watch. There are links on the page to get more information behind the numbers, too.
