Created by a family therapist (and the son of a librarian) in 1995, Ref Desk is an attempt to organize the Internet (yeah, well, good luck with that!) But it gets a good handle on the best of the factual backbone of the Internet, including all the basics: links to vetted sources like an online dictionary, thesaurus, phonebooks, quotation dictionaries, online newspapers, and a lot more — all well organized so they’re easy to find and get to. There are three levels of detail: quick, studied, and deep. It’s all in one place, along with news headlines and search, weather, a site/thought/word of the day, and lots more. It is — yes — your reference desk for the Internet.
