Read This To Me

This is True has a lot of blind readers: using technologies like Braille screens or voice synthesizers that read the words on the screen aloud, they can function quite independently, thanks. But what happens when, say, the phone or credit card bill comes in the mail? Even if they have a scanner, which of the numbers printed all over the page is the total due so they can pay it? Or maybe the instructions on a box of cake mix? How tedious to have to wait for a friend or family member to help. Enter Read It To Me, a completely free service. Just fax a page (or more) to their toll-free number, and a volunteer will call to read it to the client. How simple. How ingenious. How liberating. Volunteers needed, of course.
