OK, so we finally have a federal "Do Not Call" law, and the number of "junk" phone calls has dropped dramatically. But naturally, politicians exempted themselves from that law, and this election season saw a huge increase in calls from lobbying groups demanding your vote. No Political Calls hopes to cut down on that: a citizens' cooperative, it lets members add their phone numbers to the equivalent of the National Do Not Call Registry. Members pledge to vote against anyone or anything whose proponents "call or cause to be called" their registered phone numbers "for any political purpose." Of course, no one will ever know if you honor your promise or not -- politicians shouldn't be the only ones with that privilege either!
