There are a lot of image viewers around, but not many are totally freeware (for personal use; US$12 for commercial use) -- no "trial period over" messages or "nags" demanding that you register. Anything would beat what's built into Windows; IrfanView beats it by 10 miles. (Readers who use Macs say that GraphicConverter is an excellent shareware graphics program for that platform.)
