Yeah, it probably should be called Deal of the Day, but that domain name was probably already taken. You may know what you want to buy to help fill out your gift list, and you may even know where you want to buy it. But before you do, check DoD to see if there is any sort of special or "coupon" available -- many online merchants have them, especially for expensive items in competitive markets (like computers!) Dozens of new deals are posted daily. The site is laden with ads, but that can be a benefit: sometimes they can lead you to (yes!) more good deals.
